Buddhist Apprentice, Thailand       Christopher Harrington

This is a cell phone reproduction of a lovely, small-scale print. I have only a few remaining Silver Prints of this Buddhist Apprentice. Larger versions of this have been popular amongst collectors over the years.

Note please that all my prints are Titled and Signed (legibly) on the front (where possible). Some collectors frame to include this information, and some frame to the edge of the image, hiding the title behind a matteboard. All prints are also signed and numbered on the back (according to the limited edition production where applicable).

The story of this image above involves an epic bike adventure after university. Three university mates and I rode our early edition mountain bikes from Singapore to the north of Thailand. This image was taken on Koh Phan Gan, and island just off the coast of Thailand. I spotted this lad carrying the oversize umbrellas of his master outside an elephant show marked off by the running canvas backdrop. I had come to understand orphans or youths not engaged on traditional school path fell into youthful apprenticeships to senior monks.  The youth of this kid matched that of my photographic path as of 1991.
