Placeways is a 20 minute digital film shown on 4 panels. Placeways resulted from a collaborative arts project with asylum seekers and survivors of torture in Dublin, Ireland. The project was launched at thisisnotashop gallery space in Dublin in 2008 and has shown at several venues and occasions, including a showing for the ministers of the European Parliament in Brussels. The piece profiles 5 main young people, displaced, representing thousands or millions of migrants like them in the world. The protagonists tell their stories and witness eachothers paths over 4 chapters: Home, Departure, Arrival, and Integration. Above, please find a trailer and some screen captures from the film. Many helped bring this project to fruition: SPIRASI, the Firestation Artists' Studios; and the work was funded by an Artist in Community Award, administered by CREATE for the Arts Council.
