This page features a small grouping of related images from long-term work in St. Petersburg, Russia.  Kolomna is a region of St. Petersburg in transition when these images were made at the turn of the milennium.  St. Petersburg--its mythos, people, creative life--has significantly informed my arts practice. My project Kolomna initiated a triptych of projects in European cities of revolution. The overarching ambition of this triptych is to probe personal, local, and global cosmology for the start of the millennium as located in three representative, parallel and unique urban regions already witness to transitions and traps of human events.

This project was supported from 1999-2001 by a Community Grant from the Nathan Cummings Foundation, with the support of Patricia R Cummings.
