Navigating toward this image, on a bright, sunny day, I met 2 naval engineering students along the Fontanka River who asked me to make their photo. They took me into their University building--near the entrance, I photographed a ship model in glass case. Past the guard, guest of students. Upstairs. Each hall, room, and level progressively dark, dusty. Nobody there; decades of neglect. From inside, the sunny day we left behind rendered only sfumato silhouettes in grimy windows--buildings and chimney pipes, stalled in fog.
